JCFPL in conversation: Eve J. Chung and Ashton Lattimer moderated by Maisy Card In-Person
Eve J. Chung is a Taiwanese American lawyer and women's human rights specialist. She has worked on a range of issues, including torture, sexual violence, contemporary forms of slavery, and discriminatory legislation. Her writing is inspired by social justice movements, and the continued struggle for equality and fundamental freedoms worldwide. She currently lives in New York with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
Ashton Lattimore is an author, award-winning journalist and former lawyer. Previously, she was editor-in-chief at Prism, a nonprofit news outlet whose work centers on communities of color. Her nonfiction writing has also appeared in the Washington Post, Slate, CNN, and Essence. She is a graduate of Harvard College, Columbia Journalism School, and Harvard Law School, where she was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. A New Jersey native, Ashton now lives in suburban Philadelphia with her husband and two sons. All We Were Promised is her first novel.
Maisy Card is the author of the novel These Ghosts Are Family, which won an American Book Award, the 2021 OCM Bocas Priza in fiction and was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel, The Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, and the LA Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction. Her writing has appeared in The Paris Review Daily, AGNI, The New York Times, Guernica, and other publications. Maisy was born in Portmore, Jamaica, and raised in Queens, NY. She's currently a public librarian and a fiction editor for The Brooklyn Rail. She lives in Newark, NJ.
