Championing Intellectual Freedom: A Conversation with Lisa Varga In-Person
Join us for an inspiring evening in celebration of National Library Week as the Jersey City Free Public Library welcomes Lisa Varga, 2024 Librarian of the Year, for an engaging discussion on the critical importance of intellectual freedom.
Lisa Varga, Executive Director of the Virginia Library Association and a nationally recognized advocate for the freedom to read, will sit down with JCFPL Director Terry B. Hill to share insights from her career, discuss the growing challenges of censorship and book bans, and highlight her work in defending access to information.
Varga, known for her passionate advocacy and unwavering dedication to protecting readers’ rights, will reflect on her journey as a library leader and the role librarians play in safeguarding intellectual freedom.
